Absolutely terrific. Went to Thame for a weekend (24-27 March 2006) with my boyfriend and dined in Fothergills on the Saturday evening. Had a large sweet sherry to whet our appetites followed by the most beautiful goat's cheese and fig tart to start. Boyfriend had crumbed liver. For main I had the pepper stuffed monkfish and my boyfriend had the lamb cutlets. I had the lemon shortcake to finish and my boyfriend had sticky toffee pudding. All washed down with a White Zinfandel. The service was flawless and so was the presentation of the dishes. I would highly recommend Fothergills for a romantic meal for two, or even for a group dinner as they also have a private dining room. It was truly a lovely evening. Thank you.

This much loved restaurant has gone through a number of changes in recent times. The slightly formal atmosphere, which deterred a number of guests, has been toned down. But, make no mistake, even at lunchtime this is no chic, stylish culinary event but more a glimpse of old style dining. The menu too reflects this with rich and complex main courses and calorie busting deserts. The service is efficient and friendly but the dishes can be of variable quality. The wine list boasts a number of fine labels and is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is comfortably stylish, reflecting the affluence of the town. All together a rewarding dining experience.
