Fouters Bistro Description

Set in a little side street just off Ayr's Sandgate, one passes through an unpromising door and down a flight of stairs to a jolly little temple of eating in a series of inter-connected cellars. Brian and Odette Murphy along with Netta Fleming now run this favourite eaterie in the old bank vaults; it was totally refurbished in October 2003.

Desserts are all hand produced by Brian and his trusty assistant James Macintosh. An excellent range of wines bears eloquent testimony to the long influence of Ian Cumming and prices are reasonable. A wonderful place to hole up of a winter's evening - or any time!

Your Reviews of Fouters Bistro

Ashley Hildebrandt (4 June 2008)

This is a good restaurant serving good food and definitely to be recommended. I've eaten there, with both colleagues and family, several times over the past couple of years. Although I can appreciate the recent reviewers’ disappointment over the children policy, I can understand it. The various cellar rooms would not be ideal for younger children and I write this as someone who regularly eats in proper restaurants with my own children aged four and nine.

Paul Drawbridge (28 December 2007)

I was recently up from London on business and dropped into Fouters for lunch, following a recommendation of a colleague. I was so impressed, that I came back for Dinner as well! The food quality was exceptionally high as was the service and would put many big city restaurants to shame. I look forward to dining at Fouters again. I've just got to find an excuse to come to Ayr soon!
