Fox & Barrel at Cotebrook
Foxbank, Cotebrook, Tarporley, CW6 9DZ
Named the Fox and Barrel after a former landlord let a pursued fox escape to the cellar, it is worth seeking out this thriving food pub for the genuine welcome, interesting seasonal menus and a tip-top pint of Bass. Beyond the snug bar, with its huge log fire, china ornaments and jugs and daily newspapers, the half-paneled dining area sports a rug-strewn wood floor and rustic farmhouse tables topped with church candles. Interesting menus list bar meals such as roast ham platter, smoked chicken Caesar salad, and chicken fajita. More inventive restaurant meals take in smoked haddock and chorizo risotto with pesto, Thai king prawn curry and lamb rump with champ and Mediterranean vegetables.Named the Fox and Barrel after a former landlord let a pursued fox escape to the cellar, it is worth seeking out this thriving food pub for the genuine welcome, interesting seasonal menus and a tip-top pint of Bass.

REVIEWS OF Fox & Barrel at Cotebrook
Anthony (27 January 2010)
The quality of the food and excellent service from the staff, made a great impression on our friends, who we took with us for Sunday lunch. Amongst the positives was the good beer and all of the equipment used which was spotlessly clean, including the child’s high chair, the staff being very understanding and considerate with the young child.
Matthew and Sarah Cauldwell (27 January 2010)
It appears that most reviews written on the internet are only to post negative things about decent establishments, which leaves you wondering how and if these people have ever visited places or whether it’s jealous competition. Sarah and I have visited the Fox and Barrell many times over the last year or so and can only say positive things. The atmosphere is good and the food even better; we wish we could dine there more often. The chefs appear to have not only thought about what they are going to serve, but also the quality in which it is served. We have eaten at some of the best establishments in the UK and also some great places in the world, such as the Cliff and Sandy Lane in Barbados. The standard here is just as high, but at a fraction of the cost! All in all, this is a great value for money establishment and we will continue to frequent. P.S - As for the owners dress sense, then if that’s the only downside, I think they have nothing to worry about. Keep doing the great things.
