Fox and Goose Inn Description

Cleanliness may come next to godliness but keeping body and soul together cannot be far behind and The Fox and Goose can trace its ancestry back to 1509 when it was the eating house for the adjacent church. Not that the folk then were likely to enjoy crème brulee, though potted shrimps might have featured. Nor would salmon on a bed of cumin lentils have been on the table de jour, though the rough cut chips and generally rustic feel might well have struck a chord or two. One can however be reasonably sure that sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce would not have been on offer, and most certainly the freshly ground coffee, about which present-day diners rave, was but a figment in those far-off days. What those people missed! House wine from £13.50.

Your Reviews of Fox and Goose Inn

Lushusness (7 April 2008)

The menu was clever, varied and totally unusual and the vegetarian food was equally wonderful. The meal was superbly balanced with imaginative dishes. Delicious 'taster' extras, pre-starter soup, grenadine based fruit explosion, hand made confections with coffee and desserts were delightful. The staff were relaxed, efficient, attentive and thoughtfully reflected our mood. The cost was a surprise - we expected at least £30 more for the four of us. This was a fortunate discovery.

Daniel D (6 April 2008)

Three generations descended on Fox and Goose Inn for a weekend lunch. The attention, superb menu and the beautiful setting were promising. None of us hoped the quality of food would be so good and only got better as we progressed through our courses. The exceptional desserts crowned a wonderful meal. Fressingfield may not be centre of the culinary universe, but I will certainly gravitate there for more.
