Fox and Hounds, The Description
The Fox and Hounds is situated in the pretty Leicestershire village of Knossington, around 4 miles from Oakham.
High quality lunches and dinners are served in a fresh informal atmosphere, under the supervision of chef Brian Baker, who at one time was apparently the personal chef to Sir Elton John.
In summer, the Sunday lunch menu offers cooling starters such as chilled cucumber and yoghurt soup or Bruschetta of roasted vegetables and goat's cheese. The main course offers a traditional roast, fish stew or roasted pepper and Parmesan tart. Original puddings are also available, with three courses costing around £15.
Other menu main courses include fillet of monkfish wrapped in Parma ham with tomato and basil; sea bass with leeks and sweet peppers; roast lamb with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes.
The Fox and Hounds manage to be both a country pub for locals and offers good unpretentious food.

I've taken clients there in the evening on a couple of occasions. The food served there is unpretentious but interesting and of excellent quality. Add to this a decent wine list, efficient, courteous service, attractive surroundings and reasonable pricing. I think it's very good value for money and hard to beat in this area.

We love the Fox and Hounds. We have never had a bad meal yet, and they are child friendly without being too protective. It is refreshing to go somewhere unpretentious with character and excellent service. It is still a pub too, so you get that feeling of being in the rural community of times gone by. It is fabulous every time.
