Fraiche Description
A small and intimate fine dining restaurant, decorated in modern and minimalist feel, set off in warm natural colours. The cuisine has a foundation of classical French on which chef patron Marc Wilkinson builds his own adventurous dishes focusing on flavour without density, Marc was previously Chef Manager of the Latymer Restaurant, Pennyhill Park Hotel.

I had eaten in most of the fine restaurants in the North West and not one comes close to the food at Fraiche. A culinary experience my wife summed it up! The waitresses were young and professional but also very polite and charming. I'm very surprised that Marc (chef/prop) did not get the coveted Michelin star and if had got it, that would have been well deserved and justified. The Guinea Fowl (for main) was exquisite, so many components in the dish but working so well in unison. The extras in between the courses were fun and inventive. It was fantastic get your self down there for a good value treat. We recommend it.

My husband and I love to eat out so were delighted to find that such a fine dining establishment had come to our neighbourhood. We initially had difficulty booking by phone so my husband went in to book. Whoever dealt with him (? the chef) appeared to look him up and down and hesitated before taking the booking. As to the meal itself, our experience was very similar to the previous reviewer. I felt sorry for the poor girl who had to explain everything we were eating - it sounded rehearsed and was tedious. The meal had flashes of brilliance. My measly portion of langoustines were gorgeous but I could have eaten loads more. The lamb was also beautiful but small. All in all, I yearned for the main ingredients to be more plentiful. Instead the meal was filled out with fiddly bits that were superfluous - probably in order to cut costs. It was obvious the chef was talented but maybe was trying too hard - it was all rather serious and slightly pretentious. We had a lovely bottle of wine which compensated somewhat but I was left feeling still slightly hungry. I would be interested to go back and give it another go, maybe with the tasting menu.
