Frankie & Benny's New York Italian Restaurant & Bar - High Wycombe Description

Frankie and Benny's combine the best of classic American and Italian in both style and cuisine. They specialise in home style cooking 'just like Mamma used to make it'. This is a great place to take the entire family and represents excellent value for money. The restaurant and bar is suitable for any occasion, whether it's a leisurely lunch, a family meal or a fantastic evening with friends - they make sure you have a great time.

Walking into the restaurant is like stepping back into 1950s New York, from the clatter and chatter of the open kitchen to the bottle lined bar. Walls with black and white family photographs showing life in Brooklyn's "Little Italy" surround cosy booth seating and tables. Combined with the classic music of the fifties, a mix of American swing and beat, they definitely provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Frankie and Benny's offers a range of succulent starters, mouth watering meals and delicious desserts. Favourites include chargrilled burgers, pizzas, pastas and house specialities such as chicken parmigiana, risotto and T-bone steak. The bar serves a wide range of beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

Their sharing platters with options of chicken, skins, ribs and wings and a combination are a great way to start your meal if you are dining in a group. The pastas, calzone and pizzas are attractive and all made freshly on order. An interesting dish on the menu is a breakfast pizza with generous amounts of pork and herb sausage, ham, sautéed mushrooms and a whole egg cracked into the centre before baking. They also serve a variety of sandwiches and burgers throughout the day.

For children up to the age of ten, an all-inclusive menu featuring Frankie and Benny's very own Gangster Mice is available! For just £3.95, your child can choose from a great selection of main courses, desserts and soft drinks. As an added treat, they'll also receive a kid's pack full of activities and stackable crayons to entertain them whilst you eat.

Enjoy an American Italian meal at Frankie and Benny's with freshly prepared food and warm hospitality that makes you feel right at home.

Your Reviews of Frankie & Benny's New York Italian Restaurant & Bar - High Wycombe

K H (12 October 2008)

The place was dirty, the customer service was bad, and the members of staff were unconcerned. We had been yesterday, early in the afternoon, and although the restaurant was more than half empty, they would not give us a table, saying tables had to be booked earlier. We then asked to book a table for an hour’s time and were told, by one member of the staff that they were not allowed to take anymore bookings, while another member of the staff said we could. An hour later we went and made a booking, so that we did not get the same poor excuse. We went back thirty minutes after the booking was made, only for the staff to tell us, they could not find the booking. We did get shown to a table after a bit of a wait; though the restaurant was still fairly empty. The table was dirty, and there were chips, jigsaws and all sorts under our feet. We asked to be moved to another table, and one member of the staff went away and never came back. Another came back with a broom, and asked us to move while he swept. Why we could not be moved to another empty table was beyond me. We walked out.

First impressions were good as it was clean and we were seated straight away by a polite young lady. Our drinks order, which was taken at the same time as the food, took quite a while to arrive. When it did arrive the beer was spilt on the tray and around the wine glasses, which were replaced for new ones straight away. First course was potato skins to share, these were average and not worth the £6-7 they cost. It got worse when our mains arrived, not only did we have to ask for cutlery to eat it with, we were also not offered any condiments, they came on the second time of asking 10 minutes later. The main course was terrible, I had chicken and ribs. The chicken had been fried to an inch of its life leaving almost no chicken to eat, the three ribs were two inches long and the coleslaw for some reason was served in one of those paper sauce cups, all two tea spoonful. I do not know how they can justify charging the £12.25 for this meal, hence we did not stay for dessert. As I had a coupon for a free bottle of wine on spending over £30, I felt it was a bit cheeky to complain otherwise I would have done.
