We'd booked a table for four people but only two of us turned up. That was not a problem for the FH and the staff took the news of our depleted party with good grace and a measure of concern as to the welfare of our missing companions, despite the obvious loss of income. The food was excellent and spot on - good quality raw materials done simply but well. I had the prawn cocktail, which was with the twist of a large langoustine on the side. My partner had a lobster and smoked salmon mouse which ticked all the boxes. For mains, I had pork cutlet with mash and an apple sauce reduction - wonderful. Wild trout was the choice from the other side of the table, with a citrus sauce and new potatoes. That went down just as well. Sensibly priced food and wines, and good atmosphere made the evening. The staff also deserve a commendation too, for their general air of just being good at what they do and enjoying it - I guess that speaks volumes. The evening was signed off with a couple of beers in the lively bar downstairs. More places of the simplicity and quality of the FH are required.
