Fusions Description

fusions restaurant leicesterHow times change! My early memories of a visit to a football ground, admittedly home to a team never likely to be in the same category as Leicester City, did not include one of the best restaurants in the East Midlands, with the capacity to accommodate in great comfort and style some 120 guests.

Welcome to Fusions at the Walkers Stadium, where uncommonly good food is just as important as the quality of the immaculately kept turf that provides a pleasing backdrop to your enjoyment.

The menu serves the very best of modern British. Fusions is also available for exclusive use for every sort of celebration, social gathering or business occasion. A range of flexible dining options are designed to suit every need.

Their current main menu embraces a selection of dishes that is designed to set the tone and lay the foundation for a meal that is worthy of the setting and the team in the kitchens. Thai-influenced beef stir fry acknowledges the appeal of Far Eastern cuisine, with English sardines flash grilled and served with a Provençale vinaigrette, or a trio of smoked fish favoured with lemon to make more traditional
starters.

The heir to the Throne's championship of mutton as a delicacy is to be much admired, but many people will need more than that to persuade them away from the well-loved dish of rump of English lamb, with chorizo mash to give added zest to the humble national vegetable. For those who love their fish there could be a choice between supreme of salmon, with a crispy skin and cooked to the just the right level for flavour, or pan fried fillet of cod with a herb crust and in the company of roasted fennel and oranges.

Much more attention is paid nowadays to the proper treatment of ingredients prior to use, and here the beef is hung for four weeks before appearing on the plate as charred medallions which, however extreme it may sound makes for wonderful texture and flavour within. All dishes are served with a choice of vegetables suitable to the main event.

Desserts include the now traditional sticky toffee pudding with walnut and honey ice cream, or an apricot frangipane tart. Their cheese board is legendary; expect to find Cornish yarg wrapped in nettles, and from Lancashire Grandma Singleton's strong Lancashire cheddar, perhaps joined by a glass of vintage port or Black Muscat.

Fusions is handy for the city centre fraternity, and an express lunch can be just the ticket, giving a choice of two or three courses at incredibly good value. The wine list is not one of those that leaves you reeling with choices, but brief, punchy and designed to please the mainstreams of pleasure in that department.

Sundays is also a real family affair with Filberts Sunday Carvery, geared up for a family day out with main courses from £6.95. Always on offer are two carved meats, a fish and vegetarian option, then help yourself to plenty of freshly cooked vegetables.

Activities include kiddies corner with special appearances by Filbert Fox, Balloon Modeller and Face painter. Stadium tours are available on request. For more details of the restaurant check out the Website .
