Galicia Restaurant

323 Portobello Road, London, W10 5SY

Galicia is typically Spanish in that from the outside it looks like nothing at all but once you get inside it's packed as word has spread about its excellent cooking. Many diners chose to eat informally at the bar, sticking to the traditional tapas which are varied and delicious. If you do want to wait for a table you'll be able to explore more of the main course meat and fish dishes that are certainly worth waiting for and good value too, so it's no wonder you'll find plenty of regular Spanish diners here.

REVIEWS OF Galicia Restaurant

Caz (16 October 2008)

I am not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about. We went to Galicia recently, and had amazing food. We got there at 7pm on a weeknight, and were seated immediately, although it filled up quickly. The calamaris in particular were the best I have ever had, anywhere. This place is a really authentic Spanish tapas restaurant. The waiters are also authentic - they don't fawn over you, but they get your food reasonably quickly. They also know the menu inside out, and have a bit of character. As it is not a fast food restaurant it takes about twenty-five minutes for some of the dishes to arrive while you're eating the first few. It was amazing value for money at £20 a head including a bottle of wine between us. If you want fancy surroundings, fawning waiters, and overpriced food this isn't the place for you. If on the other hand you want real tapas, authentic Spanish décor, and members of staff, and a relaxed evening then you can't go wrong.

My boyfriend and I went there yesterday. We booked a table and arrived half hour early. The waiter offered us wine and we got a table after sometime. The food was amazing, portions were big with great quality products. You may feel that you are in a small piece of Galicia in Central London.
