Galletto

Galletto occupies former shop premises and has been skilfully converted into a friendly restaurant with a lack of formality, and attention paid to the things that matter, particularly the food. Around ten starters include an insalata di mare, seafood salad, and salmone marinato, excellent smoked salmon marinated simply in white wine and lemon juice, with fresh herbs and olive oil, and a very good antipasto of Italian meats.

For main course the saltimbocca alla romana, escalopes of veal with ham, sage and white wine sets a good standard, whilst amongst the pasta dishes the tortelloni Maria Rosa (home made pasta filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in tomato and cream sauce) makes a good dish for carnivores and veggies alike. It should come as no surprise that Italians do wonderful things with fish so a whole sole, pan-fried with wine and herbs should not be lightly ignored.

One look at the dessert menu would un-nerve the sternest resolve and there really is no possible excuse for what you are about to do - is there? The wine list is quite lengthy, leans heavily and pleasurably towards Italy, with prices not unreasonable.
