Omero Gallucci's passion for cooking dates back to his childhood days when as a little boy he spent a lot of time with his mother in the kitchen and enjoyed the noise and the aroma. He recalls the day he had cooked his first frittata under the watchful eyes of his mother. After this success story, young Omero dreamt of owning a restaurant and it became a reality with the opening of Gallucci, the Italian restaurant in Crawley, West Sussex.

Passionate about both his lineage and the Italian way of cooking, Omero offers a wide-ranging and creative menu based on authentic cuisine. It revels in predominantly seasonal ingredients sourced directly from Italy.

One can find a range of options, from bruschetta with various toppings, crostini, artichoke preparations to pasta and a variety of risotto.  The spaghetti with Parmesan cheese, a veritable treat, is prepared at the table in their own parmesan wheel while the cheese pasta parcels tossed in pesto sauce is light and wholesome. If you like a tangy taste, the garlic chicken with tomato and caper sauce, drizzled with mozzarella and served with home cut wedges is for you. Omero Gallucci has taken care to introduce many vegetable based dishes as well as pork and sea food starters and mains.

For dessert, head for the sweet trolley or settle for the pannacotta con mele caramellate, a simple yet refreshing treat of traditional vanilla cream and caramelised apples, a fitting end to a hearty meal. If you have a penchant for nuts, try the torta di nonna, a light almond pastry with sponge, glazed apricot, served with warm sweet ricotta.

If like our friend Jerry the mouse, cheese makes you go weak in the knees, take your pick from the selection cheese - gorgonzola to sheep's cheese pecorino Lucano, all served with lavender honey, dried fruits, nuts and artisan breads. The extensive list of wines, including some organic ones, complements your meal perfectly.
