Located on the edge of Spitalfields Market, Galvin Café a Vin is a small French café attached to Galvin La Chapelle, a restaurant by the Galvin brothers that is set up in an old church hall. Despite being steeped in history, the café is very modern in its décor, with clean, crisp lines, contemporary furniture, glistening zinc bar to one side and huge floor to ceiling windows, allowing plenty of natural light. The ambience is very informal and friendly, attracting busy shoppers and businessmen alike.

The café features an open kitchen, where guests can view the multitude of dishes being prepared. These dishes include entrées of tagliatelle with chanterelles, parsley and garlic; salad of smoked duck breast, pomegranate and dandelion and tarte flambée directly from the oven. Mains include duck confit with 'cassoulet' beans; wild sea bass with potato, artichokes and wild oregano.

Desserts of pear and almond tart with crème fraîche and apple and quince crumble with vanilla ice cream can be relished while looking out at the busy marketplace.
