With grand interiors and an ambience that is both chic and comfortable, Ganges indeed has an exotic Indian feel to it. The cooking focuses on using quality ingredients to create freshly prepared traditional and contemporary dishes such as meat samosas, lamb tikkas and sheekh kebabs or the more interesting ones like the achari tikka masala, barbequed pieces of chicken cooked with ground pickle. If you'd like to stick to some traditional fare try the chicken, lamb or prawns cooked the bhuna way, with green herbs and thick sauce or the mildly spiced korma with cream, saffron and cardamoms. The wonderful flavour and aroma of tandoori dishes is hard to ignore so you could go for the distinctly flavoured tandoori chicken or the mixed grill, or the naan breads fresh off the tandoor stuffed with almond, banana, egg and coconut, or savoury minced meat.Indian

We were in Carnoustie for the night and were disappointed with many local bars which were dirty and rundown. We came across Ganges by chance and booked a table for later in the evening. Couldn't fault our meal which was served in lovely surroundings and the staff were very attentive staff, not pushy just very pleasant. I could go so far as to say that the meal was one of the best Indian meals that we have had. It was wee bit pricey but nevertheless a high spot of our visit. We will certainly be back when in Carnoustie again.

The food is very tasty and is the best Indian restaurant in Carnoustie by far. It has surprised all the others in the business; 8/10.
