REVIEWS OF Garcias Mexican Food To Go

I have patronized Garcia's for so long, I've lost track of time, but probably dating back to 1985 or 1986. Their carne guisada beef tips are the best in town, bar none, hands down, without equal. Their carne de puerco spicy pork tips is hot and spicy, but on a par with their carne guisada and they have the ‘special green sauce’ in a bottle that can add more heat to your meal and to your liking. I drive all the way from Nocogdoches and Thousand Oaks just for their huevos rancheros. Order the pork chop taco, a pork chop with bone-in, seasoned with their own ‘secret herbs and spices’ and wrapped in a warm tortilla. You've got to try it at least once. The first time I took my daughter for brunch, I insisted that she try a carne guisada taco. The guisada sauce dripped unto the plate and when she was done with the taco, she dabbed all the drops of sauce off the plate and licked her fingers. Yep, it's finger-licking good! I take many of my friends and family members to Garcia's - their food is that good! I've never had a bad meal there. If you enter and there are folks standing by the door, it's because it's crowded and folks are waiting for a table. If you're by yourself and if there's room, grab a place at the counter. Service is always good before the lunch crowd but it can be a bit of a rough patch when they're swamped, but the food is what makes everything worthwhile. You will see folks from all walks of life here. I've seen former chief of Police Albert Ortiz dine here, along with many of the legal and law enforcement community. Mr Garcia is retired, but the cafe is in the very capable hands of his three sons, Julio, John, and Simon. They are open from Monday to Saturday, 7:30AM to 2:30PM and closed on Sundays and holidays. They always close for vacation for the week of 4th of July. I'm a fairly regular customer and I always have their huevos rancheros for breakfast and their carne de puerco for lunch and I rarely deviate. ‘Try it, you'll like it’
