Geales presents an interior that drives a nice line between the old and new images, whilst cleverly retaining the right atmosphere. The team, Mark Fuller and Andy Taylor, claim to be 'keeping the great British chip shop mentality - fresh fish, no frills and fabulous service'. Hot smoked salmon, tempura soft shell crab or its distant relation, a dressed Cornish crab, deep-fried whitebait, or a large pot of prawns, all contribute to the start of a meal that brings out the best in fish. Just to display a proper sense of gastronomic democracy there are grilled rib eye steaks or fillets of beef. It seems that fish is not an easy dish to follow when it comes to desserts, but at Geales they appear to have found the ideal formula, with the treacle tart, and warm chocolate brownie with blood orange sorbet amongst others, or a selection of British cheeses.

I live in Los Angeles but I can’t wait to get back to London so I can come to my favorite restaurant Geales. The service is so friendly, but also somehow they are psychic. They know exactly when they are needed and when is a good time to leave you to your thoughts. I love that - it is wonderful to have a thought of a need and whamo - there is a server handing you what you were thinking of. Uncanny - how great the service is. Very relaxed, easy and yet so elegant. There is nothing worse than a server who won’t go away and who keeps asking you how the food is with every bite. You won’t find that at Geales. They can sense your individual needs without getting into your space. The food is dreamy. Fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The decor is elegant and friendly, just like the service and cuisine. The best fish in the world.
