Gee's Restaurant Description
Gee's grew out of a handsome Victorian conservatory, ten minutes out from the city centre, masterminded by the present owner Jeremy Mogford. Although the cuisine is essentially British there is a quite a pronounced Mediterranean influence at work, making for interest and occasionally, surprise. There is plenty of evidence of careful sourcing for ingredients and my heart lifts whenever I see Buccleuch beef featured on any menu. The wine list is formidable. Despite being quite expensive, the overall standards and ambience are high and there are some remarkably good value options, such as the three course set lunch for £16.

We had a party for twelve last Sunday. The food was excellent, the wine list was more than adequate and the service superb. On checking the bill later, I discovered that they had added a 10% service charge and accepted a tip without drawing the former to our notice. This made an expensive but ‘value for money’ meal into a bit of a rip off and soured the occasion.

Snobbish. We tried to book a quiet company meal here for 15-20 people and they faxed a scabby looking sheet that asked for a credit card to pay for damages in advance! If that's the sort of people that go, we decided not to. Another friend reports seeing a food fight once before. Try McDonalds on Cornmarket for a quiet time.
