Gemini Restaurant Description
Look carefully amongst the surrounding shops and you will find Gemini, now with both its bar and dining room redecorated in pleasing colours that encourage you to eat, rather than the self expression of some whacky proprieter who may be able to cook, and should stick to it. Here, Chef Robert Foster, he of Boulestin fame, employs techniques that blend well with the decor. His signature dish is probably the allegedly fast disappearing Whitby cod, resting on a cushion of crushed cannellini beans and accompanied by mussels and Taleggio, a truly magnificent composition. It's a hard act to follow but in their own way the desserts generally succeed in so doing. The wine list gallops round the world and eight house wines are priced between £10.95 - £12.95.

Gemini, in the capable hands of chef/owner Graham Clarke is a culinary experience not to be missed. Even on Monday lunchtime, my red mullet in prawn bisque was exquisite, the vegetables just al dente, the meal complemented by a glass of Moorish Sauvignon-excellent from South West France. I was fully intending not to have a pudding but I could not resist the rhubarb/strawberry ice cream. For an ice cream-addict like me, it takes something special to get me raving. This was it. Homemade, generous, with the right balance of tangy fruit and creamy consistency, I was in heaven. For a celebration or just an excellent meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Gemini is the place for me.
