Forty years ago, while we were stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi, my Scottish wife became a huge lover of fried oysters. We now live in the Northeast and the oysters don't seem to have the same taste as the gulf oysters. Yesterday, we were visiting Panama City, Fl and I googled for fried oysters in Panama City. Genes Oyster Bar came up. The food was outstanding. This is an out of the way ‘local’ old small seafood establishment that has been in business since 1924. If local residents want good oysters, this is where they come. In addition to other seafood, they have a unique raw oyster cooking specialty by adding various items such as three cheeses and/or bacon bits and/or jalapenos or all the foregoing and broiling or cooking them in the microwave. They were delicious.
