Getti - Jermyn Street

For some Mediterranean expats reminiscing on the glorious sunshine of their home country is a favourite pastime, but others, like Stefano Fraquelli, take it a step further and recreate the feeling of being back home right here in London. And the fruit of such an endeavour is visible in the form of Getti - now open in Marylebone and Jermyn Street - designed to mimic the area surrounding Lake Como in Italy where the Fraquellis, roots lie.

The cooking turns out to be another paean to regional traditions, from the North and Po Valley to Sicily and Sardinia, and time-tested recipes such as calamari, mange tout and radicchio salad with fresh chilli and lemon dressing, and tagliatelle pasta with beef ragù make their way on to the menu. Calf's liver with butter and sage, or oven baked sea bass with orange zest and French beans could follow.

A truly Italian way to finish a meal at Getti in style is with a slab of tiramisu and a cup of caffé corretto with a dash of grappa.
