GFS Bistro, The Description
Addingham, a charming village in the picturesque valley of Wharfedale, is home to The Good Food Shop, GFS for short, an unusual mix of bistro, café and delicatessen, providing a wide range of delicious food and refreshments made from ingredients that are locally sourced, organic and freetrade, whenever possible.
The bistro has an informal yet intimate atmosphere, complemented by the menu's classic English and French dishes, making it an interesting venue to spend a relaxing evening in. You could linger over a chilled, spiced tomato and pepper gazpacho with a salsa verde and hot buttered pitta bread or the pan seared French calves' liver with locally smoked bacon mash, silver skin onion compote and red wine jus, if you are looking for a more filling dish. The delicious homemade lemon tart served with Chantilly cream might be just the thing to satisfy a sweet tooth.
The café has a more relaxed ambience and is the perfect place to catch up with an old friend over aromatic coffee or maybe the Yorkshire and special blend teas. Smoothies, juices and other soft drinks go well with the sandwiches served with kettle chips and seasonal mixed salad. The deli has hearty soups and cakes as well as seasonal fruit, vegetables, bread and other produce. For visitors to the nearby Bolton Abbey, they offer a sumptuous picnic lunch to take with you.

Your Reviews of GFS Bistro, The
James Hedley (29 June 2008)
Last Saturday my wife and I decided on a change from the usual Ilkley restaurants and had heard great things about this new bistro in Addingham, just five minutes in a taxi from Ilkley town centre. I am pleased to say we were not disappointed, the service was friendly and efficient, the food was superb and the prices very reasonable. We enjoyed it so much; we are planning to hold our joint birthday celebrations there in September.

This place is hard to find but worth it if you are passing Addingham. This is a cosy little place with nice feel; although the art seems a little random, the historic food trinkets and old books are nice. The waitress seemed to know how to make coffee, so 9/10 for it. We didn't eat as we were passing through quite early but the menu looked promising. I admit we did have a little cake, which was yummy and hit the spot. For us it felt like a nice escape and a prefect refreshment stop on our way to Dales. We hope to call in for dinner on our way back and will leave another review if we do. The friendly and attentive waitress made sure we were looked after well. Thanks!
