Glasnost Description

This award-winning community restaurant continues to go from strength to strength, with its changing menu (every three to four months) and its dedication to good food served without fuss. If eating out is at least partly about relaxing from the cares of the day, then Glasnost has got it.

Starters might include thai style pork and prawn wontons; goats cheese, fennel and tarragon parcel or crab beignets. Main courses draw on global influences and char grilled springbok rubbed in green peppercorns competes with malibu coconut king prawn tempura kebab, or mexican style enchilladas filled with hummus, kidney beans and mozzarella. Desserts continue the travelled theme with a tantalising selection, such as Baileys and Maltesers cheesecake or profiteroles filled with a Tia Maria cream.

The wine list is the work of someone who knows their way around, with house wine at £9.95 a bottle or £2.50 a glass, and for £27 a head it is possible to eat and drink well at Glasnost.

Your Reviews of Glasnost

The Goodhinds (31 May 2007)

Just had the most gorgeous meal at Glasnost! Both of us read other reviews and have friends that have eaten there before, but neither of us expected such a gastronomic delight. Prawn and pork won ton stacks with hot chilli oil, and smoked salmon (and that was just for starters!) The special rump steak with mustard and cider sauce was "to die for" and the pan fried duck with hoi sin sauce, and absolute delight! We shared a special Bailey’s and Malteser cheesecake, because we were stuffed, but what a gorgeous evening - great atmosphere - soft music, great decor, friendly staff, and superb wine list. Will definitely return again. We are used to eating out, but have never experienced such wonderful culinary delights all under one roof. GREAT!
