Glasshouse, The Description
This beautifully converted Georgian town house, formerly an antique shop, overlooks Worcester Cathedral and has been transformed to give a clever well blended mix of traditional elegance and contemporary edge design, to make the most fabulous venue for any kind of occasion.
The Glasshouse is a welcoming, comfortable and stylish Bar Brasserie offering a menu of familiar dishes served in a simple style and skillfully prepared with a solid appreciation for fresh ingredients.
This coupled with warm, yet unobtrusive service from confident, well trained and knowledgeable staff.
In addition to the restaurant, with beautiful views of Worcester Cathedral, there is also an intimate bar and sun-soaked terrace where al fresco pleasure is available. The all glass first floor dining area known as 'The Glass Box' is ideal for intimate parties of up to 16 diners.
With co-owner Shaun Hill of Merchant House, Ludlow fame, overlooking the menu, dishes are full of the tastes of good local produce, include treats such as pheasant pudding, crispy sage, bacon; Longhorn steak and onion pie, glazed carrots, pomme puree or slow roast belly pork, braised Worcester pearmain and shallot.
Last year Glasshouse received two AA Rosettes and a listing in the Michelin Guide, and its food, service and atmosphere are of a high order. As Shaun Hill remarked "only the fish has to travel any distance".
The Glasshouse is an everyday place that is not expensive or exclusive and their Website will keep you up to date with menu changes and special occasions as Glasshouse confirms its grip on the citizens of Worcester and beyond.

We had the privilege of eating at The Glasshouse on Friday, firstly the setting couldn't be more perfect with stunning panoramic views over the beautiful city of Worcester and a vibrant dining room atmosphere to boot. I've had the honour of eating at some fantastic restaurants and let me tell you The Glasshouse is up there with them - I literally couldn’t choose between the excellent courses on offer. I started with the pigeon pudding and scallops and they are two of the best dishes I've ever tasted. My partner had an onion and Parmesan soup which I'd have gladly eaten all of too if it weren't for us having to pass our starters between our party for all to sample - yes the food really is that good! For main course I had a beautiful rib eye steak with triple cooked chips, followed by a chocolate pudding with orange biscotti. All in all our party had an absolutely wonderful evening with sublime food throughout - definitely worth the one hour drive for us and we will most certainly be back for more.

I'd heard that the Glasshouse service wasn't great, but the first time I went there it was actually very good and felt like a restaurant in a bigger city than Worcester.
However, the second time I went (Mother's Day), the staff were disorganised, it took at least two or three requests to get drinks (with a 45 minute wait to get a jug of tap water), and our desert didn't turn up.
We are told the desert was "burnt" and had to be re-cooked, although they only felt it necessary to inform us of the fact after we had waited for an hour and decided to cancel it and leave. I suspect the reason the desert was burnt was because the chefs were having a cigarette outside about 45 minutes in to the 1 hour wait (I was walking around with my daughter to try to keep her occupied while the food was being prepared).
On the plus side, the food is all excellent. However, I'm not sure I will be going there again because the irritation factor caused by the poor service outweighs the benefits derived from the food.
