If you're anywhere near Bateman Street and feeling hungry, it could be a good idea to visit the family run Gopal's of Soho, well known for their authentic Indian fare. There are aromatic curries, dry fries and vegetarian options such as saag paneer, a combination of soft cottage cheese and spinach, among other dishes.

They might not have a modern and stylish interior, but the quality of food and service makes up for this. The prices are reasonable for its location. Catering for private parties of up to 25 guests is available upon request.

Why don't more people review this restaurant? It's very good. I have been there twice in the last 3 months and both times it has been excellent. On Saturday I went with 5 friends and everyone thought the meals were delicious and the final bill was reasonable. The members of staff were really nice and attentive.

Quite simply the best Indian food I have ever tasted - forget the usual curries – that’s the stuff the guy learned from his granny and it shows. Not cheap, though not dear, but it's so good it is worth every penny. It’s a real deal and, most importantly, if it were completely inauthentic, which it is not, if you had never heard of Indian food, it would still be some of the most beautifully cooked and served stuff in the world. It’s highly recommended.
