Gordon's Wine Bar
47 Villiers Street, London, WC2N 6NE
Simply the oldest wine bar in London, Gordon's Wine Bar sited in its underground cellar has a solid coterie of fans, who love its genuine slightly scruffy feel, which hasn't changed for over 100 years. Old wooden walls with newspaper clippings and faded memorabilia almost make you feel caught in a time warp, but all that is part of the charm of eating in one of London's oldest institution. The wine list covers all main areas of the Old and New World and is excellent value for money. In addition to this there are Sherries, ports and Madeiras and a special wine list accompanied by useful tasting notes. The menu encompasses a wide choice of great cheeses, salads and a range of daily changing fare, which could include Scottish smoked or poached salmon, French duck liver pâté and a selection of home cooked hot pies.Simply the oldest wine bar in London, Gordon's Wine Bar sited in its underground cellar has a solid coterie of fans, who love its genuine slightly scruffy feel, which hasn't changed for over 100 years.
