Grapes, The Description
This 16th century tavern is one of London's most characteristic riverside pubs, in a peaceful spot, well off the tourist route. The back part of the pub is the oldest, with the recently refurbished back balcony, a fine place for a sheltered waterside drink; steps lead down to the foreshore. The partly-panelled bar has lots of prints, mainly of actors, some elaborately etched windows and newspapers to read.
Your Reviews of Grapes, The
Walter Adamson (2 June 2006)
The Grapes is all about atmosphere and history, the food - at least the fish that I had and what I could see of the other being served around me - was plain boring and expensive. My Lemon Sole was certainly frozen, flabby and you could expect better for half the price in a real restaurant. Obviously The Grapes has other attractions as it was quite well patronised, but it is not the quality of the food. Friendly if somewhat chummy service.
