Greenhouse Cafe, The Description

Located conveniently near the University The Greenhouse is mainly vegetarian but has had the good sense to include a strong seafood element, which is greatly welcomed by an enthusiastic clientele. There is a vegan option and an delicious £7.50 meal for those on a budget.

The weekly changing menu features organic and seasonal ingredients. Start with fennel, parsnip and leek soup before going on to parsley-crusted salmon with a saffron mayonnaise. Proper crème brûlées are a regular finish though the chef has a thing about seasonal fruit. The service has been known to be patchy but in general the Café is an asset to the centre of Cardiff. Pity it is not open for lunch.

I took my mother to the Greenhouse after my graduation. We had a lovely evening and the food and wine was spectacular. If you are a veggie it is a massive treat but it is even lovely for those who eat meat but don't feel the need to have it in every meal!!
