Greenhouse, The Description
Meals at The Greenhouse are an interesting experience and that's before you get to the table. Vegetarianism tends not to enjoy the press it may deserve, and sometimes it is not difficult to see why. The '60s picture of rope sandals, long hair and the like is largely a thing of the past it seems to me but it has always been the air of self righteousness that has lost my vote. The first sighting of The Greenhouse does not, shall we say, fill you with confidence. The portions tend to be on the small side and there is none of the joy of eating about the experience. But vegetarians go there in sufficient numbers for the restaurant to have survived for 20 years, an achievement unattained by many others, so good luck. But it does not have to be a cheerless occasion..

I have been a vegetarian for 9 yrs now. I understand and have experienced the problems that come with making such an important life decision. I discovered The Greenhouse Restaurant about 8 yrs ago and have been going there 5/6 times a year since. Robin the owner is a lovely person and an excellent host. He takes great pride in the food he produces and the menu is both extensive and varied. He has created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere within the Restaurant that makes you want to take your time with your meal. It is definitely not somewhere to go for a quick bite but is somewhere to make the most of a good evening out to. Highly recommended to all who enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Don't be put off by the exterior appearence of the building as once you are inside the atmosphere is cosy and the owner is very welcoming. The menu is overwelming in its size but when you finally manage to decide the food is excellent and comes in large quantities. Make sure that you try out the intersting fruit/veg wines avaliable.
