Greenhouse, The Description

Now in the ownership of MARC - the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation - The Greenhouse, the Michelin-starred restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, has recently re-opened following an extensive renovation. The Greenhouse is also accredited with winning three rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide and in 2007 won the Tatler Restaurant Award for fabulous food.

Antonin Bonnet, who previously worked at Morton's in Berkeley Square, has created a modern European menu showcasing creative interpretations of French and Mediterranean classics. His highly skilled training and his contemporary approach to ingredients and cooking make him ideal to head the twenty-two strong kitchen brigade at The Greenhouse restaurant. He has been given carte blanche to source the best ingredients with emphasis on flavours and provenance, in keeping with MARC's philosophy.

Starters on the mouth-watering menu include Violet sea urchin with fresh Cornish crab and kombu jelly, pan-fried Landes duck foie with chicory, blood orange and bergamot chutney. Mains feature wild turbot and caramelised sweet onions with almond and cinnamon couscous, medjool dates and tamarinf puree, Anjou pigeon braised salsify and toasted gomasio, Scottish lobster with roasted artichokes, green cardamom, "fromage blanc" gnocchi and for dessert the menu offers fresh blood orange with white chocolate cream and olive oil ice cream, or chestnut and pumpkin surprise with molasses tuile and maple syrup.

The Greenhouse also offers a seven course tasting menu and for the non meat eaters a stunning vegetarian menu is offered.

Recently refurbished, The Greenhouse decor exudes serenity. The interior is sleek, chic, sophisticated and stylish. The relaxing elements of the garden upon entry are reflected superbly within the restaurant. The design features neutral tones and natural textiles to produce a calming yet inspiring setting.

The wine list at The Greenhouse is second to none, both in terms of quality and size, boasting over 3,000 bins. The vast list offers a wide selection of Old and New World wines, from lesser-known producers to emerging wine regions. For three years in a row the restaurant's list has won the prestigious Wine Spectator Grand Award since 2005.

Your Reviews of Greenhouse, The

Deepak (12 February 2005)

Great environment and decor. Food generally good, but not awesome. Exhaustive wine list - something for everyone! Service attentive, but perhaps over formal.

Paul Aubrey (10 March 2003)

I was lucky enough to be entertaining at this restaurant last week. The menu is fantastic, matched only by a first class wine list. Service is excellent and this restaurant provides a first class experience. Well worth the price and another visit.
