Gurkha Grill Description
Some years ago I had the good fortune to be the guest of a Gurkha army contingent, working under field conditions and with unpromising ingredients. The memory of the food they served at table remains with me still. Whilst appreciating that the Gurkha Grill is not an outpost of the Gurkha Rifles, that their premises are streets ahead of what my lot had at their disposal, and that the ingredients they use can only be better than the ones I so enjoyed, it does not surprise me that the Grill is spoken of so highly. Perhaps it has something to do with the ability the Nepalese have to make the best of everything, for certainly what you will enjoy at the Grill will be the best that they can make it.

Your Reviews of Gurkha Grill
Jenny (27 March 2009)
I have eaten in Gurkha Grill once before, which was lovely, however, last night I went and was very disappointed. I was in a large group and we arrived at 8 as agreed. Our food order was not taken until 9 and we waited till about 10 for it. I asked for table water and was told that they do not provide it but I could buy a tiny bottle of Volvic, which costs 40p at a local supermarket, for £1.50! I pointed out to the waiter that another table had a jug of water - he said it was lemonade! Then I reminded him he was legally obliged to provide tap water so he said he would get his manager. A jug of water promptly arrived! There were many things wrong with the service. For example we ordered a bottle of wine which arrived but we had to ask for glasses to drink it. We were charged £18 for poppadums. The food was nice but overpriced. Like I said I ate here a while ago when it was much smaller and had a lovely meal but I won't be going again now. There are other Nepalese restaurants on Burton Road and I would suggest you try one of them instead of Gurkha.
