Gurkhas Diner

1 The Boulevard, Balham High Road, Balham, SW17 7BW

Named for the valiant soldiers of Nepal, The Gurkha's Diner seeks to highlight a different form of Himalayan expertise to the denizens of Balham, and that is of the culinary kind. Guests are assured of an exotically spiced and aroma filled evening which brings Kathmandu right in the heart of southwest London. Nepalese, like traditional Indian cuisine, revolves around imbuing the food with the unique tang of spices beginning with appetisers such as saffron chamri, a mix of vegetables spiced and encased in thin batter, to mains such as kukra, chicken prepared in traditional Nepalese herbs. The menu also highlights a number of chulli dishes, a customary method of slow cooking with fresh spices over charcoal, including fresh salmon marinated in fresh herbs, and roasted cottage cheese diced, filled with coconut and fresh mint.

A wide range of rice dishes and traditional breads such as guliyo roti - a flatbread cooked with raisins and nuts - are available to accompany your meal.
