Guy Fawkes Inn Description

The notorious plotter intent on blowing up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605 was born there in 1570. Guy Fawkes is considered one of the best-preserved inns in the City of York with gas lighting, timber and flagged floors with sawdust, and roaring log fires.

What makes Guy Fawkes' traditional fare special is the fact that their dishes, though simple, are created with passion and flair, making their food amongst the best in Yorkshire. The menu changes with the seasons and fresh regional ingredients are used whenever possible. Expect to find their special meat, potato and ale pie as well as choices such as sea bream pan fried with creamed leeks, mussels in wine broth, and poached rabbit.

Connoisseurs love the selection of hand pulled and gravity fed ales, and their own creations include 1605 Strong Ale, the Conspirator and Guy Fawkes Ale as well as an impressive selection of fruit wines.
