Hallidays Description
Small 13th century listed thatched family run restaurant at the foot of the South Downs, yet another of these lovely little Sussex dwellings given a new lease of life, this time by chef, Andy Stephenson, and his wife Julia, who have owned it since 1997 and make it their pleasure to run a tightly-ordered, friendly ship, with thirty seats only in the beamed dining room. The place has a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on customers' enjoyment of the food and wine.
It has gained many accolades, including 2 AA rosettes, and entries into both the Michelin and the Good Food Guide. So be sure to book if possible. One member of the family scours the surrounding countryside looking for the best and sometimes the unusual produce, often with great success, while they are proud about serving all locally sourced ingredients, sticking to seasonal food. Wine list is French dominated.

This restaurant is personable with a deep country feel. The food is excellent, professionally presented and the supporting service is at the same, personal and high standard. Set in the pretty village of Funtington, the quaint building would fool you as just a village home - inside mind your head if you're tall. To top it all the food is very well priced. We like to take friends who haven't been before to see their faces light up. Go try it.
