Hallidays

Watery Lane, Funtington, Chichester, PO18 9LF

This is a charming family run restaurant housed in a small thirteenth century listed thatched building at the foot of the South Downs. A lovely little Sussex dwelling given a new lease of life by chef Andy Stephenson, and his wife Julia, who have owned it since nineteen-ninety-seven, they make it their pleasure to run a tightly-ordered, friendly ship, with thirty seats in the beamed dining room. The venue has a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on guests' enjoyment of the food and wine. The modern British cuisine has gained many accolades, including 2 AA rosettes, and entries into both the Michelin and the Good Food Guide. One member of the family scours the surrounding countryside looking for the best and sometimes the unusual produce, frequently attended by great success.

REVIEWS OF Hallidays

Jacko (19 March 2011)

Lovely restaurant, great food, brilliant friendly service in a real gem of a setting - we went as a table of four and all the courses tasted great, using local meats from the farm in Funtington and vegetables as well. It was all in all, a great evening for our whole table. This place also had a varied and interesting wine list that was very reasonable.

Dream Icons (20 March 2010)

What a wonderful surprise this restaurant turned out to be - great food, excellent service and a good selection of quality wines. The old thatched building is oozing with charm and the atmosphere is appealingly relaxed. This was our favourite dining experience of the year so far and we will be back. If you are looking for a great meal in charming surroundings in the Chichester or Emsworth area then look no further than Hallidays. Remember to mind your head though.
