With a rich cultural heritage that has originated from ancient Harappan civilizations, cuisines from the Indian sub-continent have come to blend traditional cooking techniques with modern influences, a feature that is the mainstay of The Harappa Restaurant at Hill Gate, Stockport. Exuding an ambience that is typically Indian, with relaxed seating, warm furnishings and traditional Indian motif's, the restaurant serves Bangladeshi, Indian and Nepalese fare prepared from ingredients that are fresh and locally produced. The foods are rich in herbs and spices and vary seasonally. REVIEWS OF Harappa Urban Indian Cuisine
A.D. Gould (11 November 2011)
This is the best Indian restaurant in Stockport, bar none. The food is invariably of the best quality, with the mixed kebab and lamb chat puree comprising two of the starter menu highlights. Similarly, the chef's specials are not to be missed, particularly the mincemeat-based murgh massalam. I have sampled this dish in various other Indian restaurants and Harappa's is definitely the best. Aside from the food, the hospitality and service are both peerless and second to none. Regular diners are made a fuss off and made to feel special, thus ensuring both repeat business and that every trip to Harappa is in actual fact an 'event' rather than just a meal out. We go regularly and would encourage others to do likewise.
