One of the 35 Harry Ramsden fish and chip restaurants in the UK, the Merry Hill branch in Brierley Hill maintains the exacting standards of the original, preparing the secret batter recipe fresh each day. The eponymous pioneer opened his first takeaway in a hut in Guiseley, Yorkshire in 1928. Its popularity spurred him on to open his first fish and chip 'palace' which served a record 10,000 people on its 21st anniversary.
