Haus, The Description
The restaurant is located on the first floor above The Haus Coffee Lounge and Bar. The bar is open 10am until late every day for coffee, drinks and bar food, while the restaurant is only open on Tuesday to Saturday evenings.
The Haus provides contemporary European cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere with service that is attentive but discreet. Cock and Bull is their signature dish, a fillet steak skewed with fillet of chicken breast and sundried tomato on parsnip mash, with a soft green peppercorn sauce; other mains include rack of lamb, crusted with falafel served with slow roasted plum tomatoes, french beans and new potatoes or grilled king scallops, wrapped in pancetta bacon with fresh ginger and lime butter sauce.
Wine is taken seriously at the Haus, with more than 25 available by the glass, wine and food matches are recommended on the menu.

I have gone to the Haus since it opened on a regular basis. It used to be great - especially to have table service but now what a difference - the other night coffee was luke warm and I paid for drinks I didn't have. I wished I'd taken up the owner's offer to go through the bill properly. I don't like being called 'my dear' in a patronising way and paying £9.70 extra.

Group of six of us ate there after I heard it had changed management. We had a fabulous meal upstairs in the restaurant, full of character due to the original Jacobean features. The staff and new management (who I believe took ownership recently) were very attentive. It’s nice to sit downstairs after our meal and enjoy a relaxed drink. Thoroughly recommend it for a night out.
