The Henny Swan is an award winning - Dining Pub of the year for Essex in the Good Pub Guide 2007 - riverside Gastropub restaurant with extensive gardens and parking serving modern British and International food.
It is sited on the Essex bank of the Stour; the Henny Swan's riverside garden looks across to the Suffolk meadow where, legend has it, the Iceni tribe's warrior queen, Boudicca, defeated the Roman Army's Ninth Legion.
The valley road between Bures, Lamarsh and Sudbury - which encompasses Henny Street and the Henny Swan - is one of the most picturesque routes in Essex. It has changed little since the time of local artists John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough, both of whom would have known it well.

I disagree with the other negative reviews. I came to The Henny Swan for the first time a year ago and had one of the best, most relaxed and enjoyable night outs. I have gone back many times and found the owners friendly and attentive. This is a little gem of a restaurant.

I have been to the pub on many occasions, and have no complaints. The food is excellent and freshly cooked. There is a good dessert menu, and I like the whole ambience. There is plenty of space between tables, which is a big plus.
