Herbies is the most warm and welcoming vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to. The food is homemade using fresh produce and the portions are very generous. There is a selection of light dishes such as homemade hummus and garlic granary bread, Herbies nutburger and anti pasti.

There is a different special dish, soup everyday and some specials are the Polenta Bake, and the mushroom, corn and potato bake. The atmosphere is very laid back but if you are planning on going at lunchtimes it's best to book, particularly on a Saturday as they are always very busy - it's the only dedicated vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Exeter. Prices are very reasonable, ranging from £2.25 for a starter to £8.50 for a special or main course. Either the main courses and specials come with 3 salads or for a £1.95 supplement you can have stir fried vegetables.

They are child friendly and have a separate kids menu, including homemade pizza and the children's platter with hummus, cheese, fruit and Burt's crisps. You won't be disappointed if you dine there as the food is incredible, the staff are lovely and the service is fantastic!

Herbies is by far one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants we've found. The decor and unusual artwork provide a relaxed, informal and comfortable atmosphere, while the staff are all pleasant and give great personable service. The menu is varied taking influences from many cultures, and most dishes can be made vegan. Prices are very reasonable - we've never spent more than £20 a head for drinks, starter, main and dessert. To anyone dining there, the Heaven in Devon sundae is a must-try!
