High Road Brasserie
162-166 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 1PR
This latest venture in the life of Nick Jones, yes indeed, he of Soho House, seems to have caught the eye of the local life, and is buzzing with trendiness, as well it might. Zoe Williams writing in The Daily Telegraph, says of Nick Jones, "everything he touches turns to gold". Happily this does not run to the very brasserie style menu, which is packed full of old favourites that can include salmon and tuna, dressed at table with chilli and lime Scotched quails eggs and moules marinières, mutton chops, sardines on toast, and choucroute garni, followed by blackberry and raspberry fool. Since it is an all day menu it has an all purpose feel to it, enabling appetites of all shapes and sizes to be satisfied simultaneously. This latest venture in the life of Nick Jones, yes indeed, he of Soho House, seems to have caught the eye of the local life, and is buzzing with trendiness, as well it might.

A wine list that owes more to France than anywhere else is, of course, entirely appropriate, and it certainly covers the territory with élan. Brasseries have always depended to a greater degree than most on the character of their staff and here HRB excels itself, with a cheerful collection of young enthusiasts offering well channelled enthusiasm that is in keeping with the charisma of the place.
