Hot Stuff
23Wilcox Road, London, SW8 2XA
You hardly need to be a mystic to deduce that Hot Stuff is founded on the chilli. You may, however, need to be something of a sceptic about being able to have a good dinner there for under £15 - and do I mean good. Ignore any difficulties you may encounter in getting there - just preserve, even sharpen your appetite a touch for what is to come. Turn a blind eye to what some might regard as deficiencies in décor and concentrate on the sublime food. In fact I don't know why we are telling you about this haven of excellence, beyond the fact that it is our public duty to do so. The range of aromatic Indian dishes is mind-boggling, the company as ever ranges from those who don't really warrant a bargain like this, to those who regard themselves as connoisseurs and would pay pretty well any price to access this degree of culinary excellence. You hardly need to be a mystic to deduce that Hot Stuff is founded on the chilli. Hot stuff is run by a charming Indian family to whom, I suspect, production of food as good as this is just a fact of life, even on the scale which they are now obliged to do. Good news travels fast - and in this case hot - another reason for making sure that you book beforehand. Hot Stuff is not big, but then many good things come in small packages. Oh, yes, and it's BYO, and in case you forget there's an offie next door.

This is a strange combination of country pub and urban fringe riverside. Yes, there's a cement works alongside, but nobody seems very concerned about it, and the other qualities of the place seem ...
