Hush Brasserie Description
Hush Brasserie, one of West London's hidden hotspots, starts the day leisurely at 11 am bringing delicious brasserie classics in a contemporary and relaxed environment. Bright, airy and stylishly cool, the décor follows a natural theme of burnt sienna and rustic browns that lends a touch of irresistible sophistication to the atmosphere. There's a remarkable courtyard also for warmer months when you can dine al fresco and enjoy the beautiful weather.
The main menu is the à la carte, with a series of starters that include Forman smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, bang bang chicken and gratin of macaroni cheese with crispy bacon. Feeling indulgent? Then get started with the Sevruga caviar with blinis and crème fraiche.
For loyal patriots there are dishes that will be forever British, starting with a rare roast beef in Yorkshire pudding with horseradish sauce through to pot roasted guinea fowl with root vegetables and thyme jus. The hush hamburger is in a class of its own, and for those wanting something a little different the spiced fillet of salmon with steamed broccoli and soy dressing brings a new dimension to this popular fish now well within the reach of all.
The grill is an essential part of any brasserie's armoury and char-grilled rib-eye steak with watercress - and how well that flavour seems to link with a properly cooked and well-hung steak finished with Béarnaise sauce. Plenty of imagination is used in making those essential adjuncts to English dishes acceptable to the rebellious who had enough of them at school, so honey roasted carrots, gratin of cauliflower and Savoy cabbage with bacon do much to embellish the gaiety of nations.
Given this laissez-faire approach to vegetables it would have come as no surprise to find Mars Bars on the dessert menu, but the blessed Bars appear only as part of a cheesecake, backed with praline ice-cream. Many would prefer their Earl Grey alongside some cucumber sarnies given life with a touch of gentleman's relish, but the Heston touch is applied here with sorbets of spiced pear, rhubarb and - yes - Earl Grey.
Private dining at hush is an exquisite affair, with a North African inspired theme and dishes that borrow heavy influences from Moroccan cuisine. This second floor venue is perfect for product launches, corporate presentations, weddings and other intimate affairs.
The much acclaimed cocktail lounge at Hush is on the first floor and offers an elegant environment in which to enjoy their signature drinks, particularly the 'strictly Hush', an intriguing blend of Taittinger Champagne, chambord, orange bitters and raspberry purée. The wine list begins reasonably and contains some truly sensational contributions from New World vintages that speak well for the long term prospects of wines that not so very long ago were too prematurely treated with a curl of the sommelier lip. Hush is also home to La Cave, a luxury wine boutique and private dining space for 16 people.
Their Website is attractive, easy to handle and will inevitably attract further interest from those who liking their eating quite traditional but with the advantages of modern preparation and surroundings.
