After World War II, brothers Jim and Hub Hyde, born in a poor coal mining town in East Kentucky moved to Hamilton, Ohio. In August 1946, they saved some money and bought a small ice cream shop. Over the years the menu has grown in size and menu - the offerings expanded to fried chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, fish dinners and fresh, homemade pies.

The specials change on a daily basis and on Wednesdays you can expect to find slow roasted pork served with homemade dressing and topped with gravy and served with a choice of two side dishes and shredded chicken atop mounds of dumplings. More substantial options that feature regularly on the menu include porterhouse steak and grilled salmon. The peach, apple and blackberry cobbler is popular among regulars or you could opt for coconut or tangy lemon rhubarb cream pie.
