IF Bar and Restaurant Description
Ilford Hill residents are guaranteed generous doses of excitement with the opening of IF Bar and Restaurant where it's all about food, music and entertainment. Previously called Red Lion, it's now kitted out in leather sofas, atmospheric down-lighting and polished wood following a £3m makeover. The spectacular heated garden where you can play mini-golf, giant chess or dine al fresco is the real draw here.
The Italian food on offer will appeal to most tastes, so start perhaps with octopus poached in olive oil, tomato and garlic, or whitebait, calamari and prawns coated in a paprika flour fried and served with lemon and a garlic mayonnaise. For those wanting something different there's confit of duck legs rolled in Parma ham with a rocket and pomegranate salad and veal jus, and rosemary roasted rabbit with a paprika tomato sauce with creamy délice potatoes and steamed green beans.
IF promises plenty of entertainment right through the week with comedy and cabaret, live bands and club nights.

food is great; the cocktails are wonderful with nice music and the staff are friendly and cool. I love the fact that it's local and walking distance from home especially when I've had a few drinks.

The venue has undergone a serious facelift since it was a pub several years ago. The décor is breathtaking and had it not been raining we would have sat outside to eat on their magnificent terrace. I honestly felt like I was in a high end exclusive West End restaurant instead of Ilford, Essex. For those who love Italian fare there’s a great range of pasta and pizzas for as little as $7. There are also lots of delicious meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Although it was a busy evening as they had a comedy show in the club part of the venue, our food did not take too long to arrive. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had ‘accents’ which made the evening more authentic, in my opinion. After our meal we opted to stay and enter the club portion for the comedy show which was really good. Apparently Central London’s Comedy Club is now resident at the venue every Thursday night. All in all, it was a wonderful evening. We had dinner, drinks and entertainment in a beautiful place for around £40 each.
