Il Forno Description
Il Forno is like a slice of Italy in the heart of Liverpool and among the many establishments that serve Italian food or claim to be real this restaurant shines like an authentic gem.
The interior has comfortable leather and dark wood furniture, bright colours, and art on the walls and you could even watch your pizza being created in the oven that is made to look like an enormous fire breathing face. The Italian born staff add to the experience and serve dishes from the unique to the traditional with passion.
The á la carte, pizzeria, deli and takeaway menus present customers with a range of options; start an evening meal with a selection of cured meats and cheeses, or calamari and fried vegetables, before moving on to a pizza or oven-baked layers of pasta with Bolognese, béchamel and Parmesan. Mains of pork steaks or veal shanks braised with rosemary, carrot and a hint of orange are served on saffron risotto.
End the journey with a classic tiramisu. Wines, champagne and cocktails complement the food.

Your Reviews of Il Forno
Sally (10 December 2008)
I had a fantastic night at Il Forno. I am not sure where the metal table comment came from, but the décor was very much in keeping with the venue and created a wonderful atmosphere. Best of all was the amazing pizza oven situated in the main part of the restaurant, where customers can watch their pizzas being cooked before their eyes! The members of staff were lovely and very attentive. Overall it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend.

The food in this place was okay but the metal tables and very bright lights made me feel like I was in a clinical lab rather than a cosy restaurant, which almost ruined the evening. It’s not such a bad thing, but what did eventually ruin the evening was the bossy maître d’ and the waiter who gave us a white wine of a different grape variety than the one we had ordered. When I sent it back I was informed the one I had ordered from the wine list was no longer in stock.
