Il Forno - Liverpool
132 Duke Street, East Village, Liverpool, L1 5AG
Il Forno is like a slice of Italy in the heart of Liverpool and among the many establishments that serve Italian food or claim to be real this restaurant shines like an authentic gem. The interior has comfortable leather and dark wood furniture, bright colours, and art on the walls and you could even watch your pizza being created in the oven that is made to look like an enormous fire breathing face. The Italian born staff add to the experience and serve dishes from the unique to the traditional with passion. The á la carte, pizzeria, deli and takeaway menus present customers with a range of options; start an evening meal with a selection of cured meats and cheeses, or calamari and fried vegetables, before moving on to a pizza or oven-baked layers of pasta with Bolognese, béchamel and Parmesan.Il Forno is like a slice of Italy in the heart of Liverpool and among the many establishments that serve Italian food or claim to be real this restaurant shines like an authentic gem.

Mains of pork steaks or veal shanks braised with rosemary, carrot and a hint of orange are served on saffron risotto.
End the journey with a classic tiramisu. Wines, champagne and cocktails complement the food.

REVIEWS OF Il Forno - Liverpool
CATHERINE SWEENIE (14 August 2011)
My husband and I have holidayed in Italy for over 35 years and have learned to value the pleasures of dining in some of its many excellent ristorantes. When we discovered Il Forno in Liverpool last week it was just like being back in Italy. What a find - the kind of restaurant we hope to discover when travelling but rarely do. The welcome was warm, surroundings very pleasant and comfortable, and the food excellent. We ate there on both nights of our visit to Liverpool, and on the second night were greeted like friends. The home made ice-cream was better than any we had tasted in Italy - a special mention here of the Walnut and the Tiramisu - molto molto bene. We shall return!

We absolutely loved this restaurant and have returned several times to celebrate anniversaries and the like. The service was great - noticeably better on Friday and Saturday. The food is fantastic - not cheap, but certainly worth the dish!
