I've seen mixed reviews for Illegal Jack's, but heard a lot of good stuff on Twitter on an almost daily basis (@illegaljacks, so thought I should wander up and give it a try.

I went on Monday lunchtime, and it was very quiet. Not usually the sign of great food, if a place is empty at lunchtime, but it meant there was plenty of food and super-fast service. I ordered a beef burrito with black beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream and it was absolutely huge. Brilliant portions, and more than I would usually want to spend on lunch around £6.50, as guacamole and sour cream are chargeable extras, but the amount of food made up for this and made it excellent value for money. It wasn't the spiciest Tex Mex I've ever eaten, but there is a choice of spicier salsas and hot sauce available for those who like a little fire. The food was cooked well, although it was a little cold, possibly a casualty of the fast service? This didn't take much away from the eating experience, though - it was very nice indeed and I was so sad I couldn't finish it. I will definitely be going back and can't wait to try some of the other delights on the menu, particularly the fajitas and the chilli.
