Inamo
134-136 Wardour Street, London, W1F 8ZP
Whoever said that fusion restaurants are all the same, just a mix of dishes from different Asian countries; well they can?t have been to Inamo, which provides a special experience for diners of all ages looking for something that really is completely different. We thought that the tables looked rather unusual as we were seated, certainly they were extremely colourful, and then we discovered, as the waitress patiently explained, they were rather more than just attractive tops and that the whole experience is an interactive one, from selecting your food and wine through to billing at the end and even booking your taxi to get home. To our surprise, we quickly adapted to this novel way of ordering, it is more straightforward than you might expect, as, if you make a mistake, you get a chance to rescind your selection before it is sent automatically to the kitchen.

Best thing of all was that the food was equally as interesting with small dishes such as thin cut hamachi tuna sashimi in soy mirin and truffle oil or baby crispy prawns lightly battered served with a Thai mango relish, so good that we had to have a second helping, there was a wonderful lobster salad with cress and ginger pomegranate dressing and shredded chicken, apple, herbs and chilli in a betel leaf - you wrap it in the leaf and eat it.
Unfortunately we went rather overboard with the starters only leaving room for a single larger dish, tiger king prawns - grilled, with green nam jim, a hot, sour, salty and sweet Thai sauce, six large prawns, perfectly prepared.
All this was washed down with a pleasant Chilean Sauvignon Blanc and their chilled filtered water, apparently saving the environment.
They even have a bar and a private room, plus some bargain set lunches and early evening ones, now we have no excuse for not going back.

Really great experience here - the novelty of the interactive tables is matched by the quality of the food.
