Having been around for more than 50 years it's pretty fair to say that the India Club has become something of an institution. Dressed with portraits of various Indian leaders and scenery, its simple décor doesn't deter its loyal band of followers who eat here on a regular basis, attracted by the classic cooking and low prices.

The menu features non-vegetarian fare on one side with choices like chicken or lamb curry Madras, bhuna, pilau, korma, scampi curry, kebabs, keema peas, and tandoori. Then there are plenty of options for vegetarians that include beans masala, mushroom curry, or sambar, a lentil stew with tamarind and vegetables.

If you want a beer or a glass of wine to accompany your meal you'll have to seek out the hotel bar downstairs, which has an interesting piece of history. Established in 1946 by India?s first High Commissioner to the UK, this was originally a meeting place for Indians, but now it?s not uncommon to see barristers, students and academics.
