India Club at Strand Continental Hotel Description
Having been around for more than 50 years it's pretty fair to say that the India Club has become something of an institution. It's faded and very dated décor don't deter its loyal band of followers who eat here on a regular basis, attracted by the classic cooking and low prices. Great dishes include masala mosai and bhuna chicken and a rather tasty dahl. If you want a beer or a glass of wine to accompany your meal you'll have to seek out the hotel bar downstairs and payment is strictly by cash or cheque only.

I ate at the India Club yesterday and to say I was surprised at the food is an understatement. My starter of mixed bhaji of chilli and onion was overcooked and flavourless. The main course of lamb madras came in a very small bowl the same size as a mug and out of the 7 small pieces of meat I found 3 to be pure gristle. The accompanying naan bread was also undercooked. I will definitely not be eating there again and would not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

It’s fantastic, a genuine Indian experience! We want to move in to the hotel, make sure you are familiar with south Indian food though, we were amused to see some of the other diners struggling a little with the excellent menu.
