Few restaurants can boast of winning a string of awards, but the Indian Ocean Restaurant in Ashton-under-Lyme has plenty of them in its kitty including the British Curry Awards for the 'The Best Indian Restaurant in the North West' for 2007 and 2008. The pioneering kitchen team strive to bring authentic regional cuisine to diners in the Tameside area preparing a range of dishes from across the sub-continent.

In true Indian style they present various culinary cultures from different regions, so diners could enjoy a raan-e-khyber, lamb shank slow cooked in a Punjabi-style masala sauce of onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes and finely chopped green chillies, or the zesty Afghani chicken or lamb with red and green capsicums. More traditional tastes are evident in korma, dhansak, bhuna, dopiaza, tikka masala and jalfrezi dishes. A commitment to providing vegetarians with ample choice is demonstrated in dishes such as aloo channa, curried potatoes and chickpeas garnished with coriander, and tarka dal, lentils cooked and sizzled in garlic sauce.
