At what has to be one of the more distinguished London addresses, Indigo Restaurant brings a level of cool that complements the sophisticated One Aldwych hotel. None of this gets in the way of its primary role - to create and serve high quality food and drink in stimulating surroundings.

One Aldwych has 105 luxurious, contemporary bedrooms and suites, all of which possess the same high standard of luxury and technology and offer warm service from friendly, professional staff. Amidst this plethora of attention to detail Indigo is a relaxed and informal restaurant overlooking the buzzing Lobby Bar. Breakfast has a splendid array of items to spoil yourself with when away from home, including fresh juices, home-made pastries, porridge with blossom honey and smoked organic salmon on toasted brioche. There's also great coffee that can be tuned to the degree of need!

At lunch and dinner a regularly updated à la carte menu keeps the choice of dish fresh. The one element that does not change is the care and precision given to what's on the table, with starters of pressing of ham hock, rabbit and Agen prunes with a baby leek vinaigrette and a Colchester crab cocktail with Virgin Mary jelly and avocado mousse - both delicious.

Lighter choices include a salad of Thai rare beef with crispy shallots, peanuts, coriander and chilli, with rump and shin of English veal accompanied by carrot purèe, thyme fondant and roasting juices for the heartier appetite. Other favourites, whether for a relaxed lunch or late supper, include baked cannelloni with ricotta cheese, spinach and caramelised onion and Loch Duart salmon with crayfish ravioli and spinach and pistachio risotto.

Neal's Yard cheeses lead the way for desserts, with tasty home-made chutney, or there's a hot chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream and soured cherries - guaranteed to stimulate any palate.

Pre and post theatre menus offer two or three course suppers, ideal for the hotel's location in the heart of Covent Garden's Theatreland. At weekends take time for a chilled brunch with family or friends.
